2025 YOUTH RALLY - MEET THE SPEAKERS

Bishop Scott McCaig, CC

Bishop Scott McCaig, CC, is from Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada. He entered into full communion with the Catholic Church in 1987, served with NET Catholic Youth Ministries USA, and then joined the Companions of the Cross in 1989. He obtained an undergraduate degree in history from Carleton University, a bachelor’s degree in sacred theology from the University of St. Paul, and a Masters of Divinity Degree from the University of Toronto (Toronto School of Theology). He was ordained to the priesthood in 1995 by Archbishop Marcel Gervais. He served as an associate pastor, parish administrator, hospital chaplain, and director of formation for the Companions of the Cross from 2000 to 2006. He served two terms as general superior of the society from 2006 to 2016.

Bishop Scott has participated in missionary outreach to over fifteen countries. He also serves on the board of Catholic Christian Outreach and is involved in members’ spiritual formation. He assists with training missionaries with NET Ministries of Canada and is a co-chaplain to Ottawa’s Spiritual Motherhood of Priests Apostolate.

Fr. Rastislav Dluhý

Fr. Rastislav Dluhý is a Slovak Catholic priest and a member of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists). He was ordained a priest in 2000 and has spent most of his priestly ministry in the formation of priests and seminarians. He is the founder of the Slovak version of the American journal, Word Among Us, as well as the
publication house Word Among Us – Redemptorists.

In 2010, he brought the Christlife courses Discover, Follow, and Share Christ to Slovakia. Fr. Dluhý earned a doctorate in journalism in 2013; his dissertation analyzed and researched the impact of the EWTN show, The Choices We Face. Since 2018, he has been on mission with two other Redemptorist priests in Kaunas, Lithuania, working in evangelization, parish missions, and prison, university, and vocational ministry.

Debbie Herbeck
Debbie Herbeck

Debbie Herbeck has shared with many her personal journey of faith from Judaism to Christianity and subsequent entrance into the Catholic Church. For the past forty years, Debbie has worked extensively in youth and women’s ministry, speaking, leading mission trips, and mentoring high school and college age women. She has spoken at Franciscan University Conferences, Legatus chapters, and women’s events throughout the world. She is the founder and executive director of Pine Hills Girls Camp. Debbie is also the founder and director of the Be Love Revolution, a ministry that exists to help young women encounter Christ and be His love to all they meet.

She co-authored her most recent book, Lessons From the School of Love: Cultivating a Christ-Centered Marriage, with her husband, Peter. She has also written Safely Through the Storm: 120 Reflections on HopeFirmly on the Rock: 120 Reflections on Faith, and Love Never Fails: 120 Reflections on Love. She and her husband Peter have co-authored a book entitled When the Spirit Speaks: Touched by God’s Word. Debbie is a frequent author and speaker for Blessed is She and contributing writer for Undone: Freeing your Feminine Heart from the Knots of Fear and Shame.

Debbie and her husband Peter live in Ann Arbor, Michigan and have four adult children and eleven grandchildren.

Deacon Larry Oney

Deacon Larry Oney serves the Archdiocese of New Orleans at Divine Mercy Parish in Kenner, Louisiana. He is the chairman of HGI Global—a third-party administration and project management firm. 

Deacon Oney lives in New Orleans with his wife, Andi. He has five children. Deacon Oney is a member of the Board of Directors of Renewal Ministries, a member of the New Orleans Chapter of Legatus and the founder and president of Hope and Purpose Ministries

Deacon Oney’s dynamic preaching style and message of hope has led to hundreds of speaking engagements across the globe; from Africa to Brazil to Canada and throughout the United States.  With a passion for lifting people up across the world, he inspires men and women to live their lives with hope and purpose. As an ordained Catholic Deacon and business leader, he leverages humor, joy, Scripture, love and personal insight to speak to people’s hearts and to encourage them to live a Spirit-filled life. Through Hope and Purpose Ministries, he aims to put the New Evangelization into practice through preaching, teaching and the media; offering hope and purpose to all individuals. 

Deacon Oney has spoken at hundreds of events across the globe and appeared on many EWTN shows. He has also been a guest on FOCUS TV, Franciscan Radio, Ave Maria Radio, Relevant Radio, Redeemer Radio, and more. Deacon Oney hosts the radio show “Discovering Your Hope and Purpose” on Radio Maria. Deacon Oney has authored several books: Amazed by God’s Grace, Divine Mission: Discovering Your Hope and Purpose, Reflections on the Kingdom of God, and UP FAITH! God loves a faith that is always looking up! He also co-authored a book with Fr. William Maestri—Preaching Jesus in the Time of the New Evangelization for priests and deacons.

 

Katey Norman

Katey Norman is a proud Stratford, Ontario, native, and graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville. She and her husband, Steve, moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in August of 2023 to be on mission and serve the Lord with Renewal Ministries. With over 13 years of working in ministry, Katey has a heart for evangelization, mission and a desire to see the Body of Christ living dynamically and boldly as sons and daughters of the King.

Steve Norman serves as the director of Forged, a ministry that aims to form young men into missionary disciples of Christ. Steve moved to Ann Arbor with his wife, Katey, and two children, Jeremiah and Kateri, from Stratford, Ontario. He served as a high school campus minister in Canada and is currently finishing his Master of Arts in Theology Degree from the Augustine Institute in Denver, Colorado.
